PJ Wilderness
Expanding my horizons while getting centered!
I recently realized that while living my best life, somehow I pushed myself aside during this process. Rather than focus on shoulds and racing through life trying to keep up with other people’s definition of what will make me happy and fulfilled, I’m now choosing to slow time, find the joy in each moment, and figure out what matters to me to build the life I want.
Inspired by Cheryl Strayed on the Wild Pacific Crest Trail, Elizabeth Gilbert in Eat Pray Love, Michael Crichton’s Travels and Bill Bryson on his A Walk in the Woods, I’d hungrily devour each book, sit back, relax my eyes and simmer in the beauty of their journey. Then my left brain kicked in and immediately drew connections, followed common themes mapping out how I could do this without leaving my hometown, or my home.
I’m calling it the PJ Wilderness! It’s a Personal Journey that we can take (without leaving the comfort of our PJs!)
Here is the proposed itinerary, but be prepared for detours (Links take you to the corresponding blog post – no link means check back soon for the next step!):
Step 1: DESTINATION
Step 2: ASK FOR TIME OFF
Step 3: MAP TRIP/LEAVE A TRAIL
Step 4: DON’T GET STUCK
Step 5: PACK LIGHTLY
Step 6: PROPER FUELING
Step 7: SETTING UP CAMP
Step 8: BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS
Step 9: RESPECT THE WILDLIFE
Step 10: STICK TO THE TRAIL
