CURRENTLY: K BEAUTY EDITION
Although I am mixed-race Korean adoptee, I am also a sun-worshiping So Cal gal. So, it took me until about the age of 50 before I finally started to pay attention to my skin and make more of an effort than only Oil of Olay Complete sensitive skin with sunscreen – which has been a wonderful product for the last 30 years. I have been a loyal user as it kept my skin looking fairly young compared to what I thought 50 might look like.
But now I notice changes in my skin due to hormonal changes, age, weariness, weight loss, etc. I am ramping up my skincare game and doing anything that can slow the aging – or possibly even reverse some of the damage that I’ve done. Thanks to the Hallyu Wave (Kpop, Kdrama, KBBQ) a whole new vision of porcelain complexions is taking over media and a whole new world of Korean beauty items actually made for my skin type has opened up before me.
I am telling you it is a slippery slope but so far, everything I have tried, I have loved. I trust the products. Plus, if you haven’t heard, if you go into a Kbeauty store, they will load you down with so many free samples that you can open up your own shop. But if you don’t have a K beauty store near you, you can quickly order them here. (Note: #Afflinks below will not cost you anything extra, but will throw a few pennies to me so I can continue trying new products and sharing them with you.)
CURRENTLY SIMPLIFYING
A’pieu Daily Sheet Masks are thin masks with essence of amazing in them so you can use it daily and I only used the masks without any additional steps to my morning facial routine. Super refreshing and if you have time, you could also put them on your neck to help moisturize it.
CURRENTLY PROTECTING
Abib Quick Sunscreen is one of the secrets to achieving glass skin. This sunscreen glides over or under whatever skin products you use to protect your skin with a sunscreen that is clear and smooth and really works. I love that you can apply it and it doesn’t get all over your hands.
CURRENTLY OBSESSED
Kahi Wrinkle Bounce Multi Balm is a simple little stick that you put on to help bring moisture to areas that wrinkle, but also to bring a little bit of shimmer to your cheeks or your job on or your nose or lips to help accentuate the positive. Fits easily in your pocket or your purse to use anytime. I cannot wait to try the rest of the Kahi family of products.
CURRENTLY SEE THE DIFFERENCE
Vari:Hope Mask Pack feels richer than daily masks, yet super effective as it helps cool off your skin (especially when you keep it in the fridge), reduces wrinkles, and smooths out your complexion. There is tons of extra serum in the packet that you can tap into your face or neck – Bonus, use the mask on your neck to drag out the refreshing relaxation.
CURRENTLY SEEING SPOTS
Vari:Hope 8 days Vitamin C Serum comes in a tiny but mighty bottle to help me not see sunspots on my face. In just one year (a few years ago) of using a lotion that had no sunscreen, I developed sunspots. Then I ignored them thinking that they would fade like my summer tan. The vitamin C serum helps fade the spots, but since I don’t use it daily, for me, they’re fading gradually.
CURRENTLY LEVELED UP
O Hui Miracle Moisture grew my nighttime skin regiment from zero steps to four. Now I wash my face, put on several toners, clarifiers, emulsifiers, and then lotion, and my skin has never been clearer and never been more relaxed. It doesn’t freak out every time I put something on it which used to result in oily or super dry skin. The great thing is, a little bit goes a long way. I have had my bottles for about 16 months now and still I’m just barely 2/3 of the way through the bottle.
CURRENTLY FANGIRLING
I have watched a fair share of Kdramas and listen to a fair amount of Kpop and one product I see a lot, although not specifically Korean, is Rosy Lips by Vaseline. I love the light rosy scent and easy coverage with just a little shine without the goopy feel one expects when you hear the brand name. I keep one at home and one in my bag or pocket and my lips never look dry.
CURRENTLY WAITING FOR
Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Overnight Masks have been tried by everyone and their brother on social media! Seriously, after 101 videos of people putting on the white mask and taking off the clear mask and showing their glass skin, what got me to finally push the buy button was a guy who had some little device – could’ve been a cooking tool for all I know – measuring the difference in moisture levels in his skin. Mine should arrive any day now.
